Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center has invested in a new branch in Guangzhou's Zencheng District, which is expected to become the largest women and children's hospital in Asia, announced the information office of the Guangzhou municipal people's government on March 9.
The project, which has an investment of 1.99 billion yuan ($286.3 million), is expected to cover a total building area of 220,000 square meters. The whole project is scheduled to finish construction by December 2020.
After construction, the outpatient departments of the Zengcheng branch will be able to receive about 5,000 to 7,000 patients a day on average, and 1,000 patient beds will be set up in the hospital.
In addition, a total of 86 other major projects in the first quarter of 2020 were signed or started operation in Zengcheng on March 9.
"All 87 projects have covered various areas, spanning advanced manufacturing, life sciences and health, headquarters economy, high-end services, as well as scientific and technological innovation," said Chen Xiaohua, deputy head of Zengcheng District.
Chen noted that 28 projects were signed, involving an overall investment of 63.4 billion yuan, and the expected output value of all these projects will reach 87.6 billion yuan after operation.
